Golf Shop Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Golf Shop Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth operation of the golf shop and overall guest experience at Pleasant View Golf Course. This position is responsible for overseeing daily golf shop functions, maintaining operational efficiency, and providing excellent customer service. The Golf Shop Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for golf shop attendants, assist with merchandising, and ensure that all opening or closing procedures are completed. This position may be divided into two roles: Opening Golf Shop Manager (hours ranging from 5am-3pm) and Closing Golf Shop Manager (hours ranging from 11am-8pm). The pay rate is $17-$20 per hour based on experience, 30-40 hours per week.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Leadership & Operations:

  • Oversee daily golf shop operations, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Train, mentor, and assist golf shop attendants in their duties.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with guests, staff, and management.
  • Ensure all golf shop policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Assist in problem-solving and address guest concerns in a professional manner.
  • Provide oversight of tee sheet management and coordinate with starters and rangers regarding course updates.


Customer Service:

  • Acknowledge and greet all guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information about golf course conditions, events, and promotions.
  • Assist guests with booking tee times, checking in, and answering inquiries.
  • Ensure club rentals are properly managed, cleaned, and accounted for upon return.


Merchandising & Financial Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked golf shop.
  • Assist with inventory management, including restocking and tracking merchandise.
  • Process transactions using the point-of-sale system, including handling cash and credit card payments accurately.
  • Assist in executing golf shop sales promotions and marketing efforts.


Opening Shift Responsibilities:

  • Ensure golf shop is ready for daily operations, including checking inventory and POS system functionality.
  • Prepare and review the tee sheet, communicating any changes to staff.
  • Coordinate with golf cart attendants and starters to ensure smooth morning operations.
  • Communicate with Golf Course Superintendent and staff to confirm course readiness.


Closing Shift Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all guests are properly checked in and final transactions are completed.
  • Count the cash drawers and complete daily deposits.
  • Restock merchandise and ensure cleanliness of the golf shop.
  • Lock up and secure the golf shop at the end of the day.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in golf shop operations or customer service preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency in using a point-of-sale system and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Valid driver’s license.
