What is Becky's role at Pleasant View Golf Course?
Becky is our Head Golf Professional and Event Coordinator. She manages the golf shop staff, starters, rangers and golf car attendants. She also helps with merchandising, preparation and implementation of golf/non-golf outings, as well as league management.
What is her background? What did she do before Pleasant View Golf Course?
Becky grew up in Middleton. A year before beginning high school, Dewey Stendahl started the Middleton High School Girls Golf Program. She played golf for MHS for four years, graduated, and began college at UW-Madison. There she studied Consumer Science with an emphasis in Personal Finance. After college she worked at M&I Bank and eventually left to work at NSI, a division of West Bend Mutual Insurance Company. Becky worked at NSI for ten years in IT and Product Configurations. In 2015, she started working at PVGC in a full-time management position.
How did Pleasant View Golf Course come into Becky's life?
Becky started golfing at Pleasant View when she was 14 years old, after choosing to pursue golf at the high school level, contrary to volleyball, at the advice of her brother, Ben (who is a volleyball coach). She began working at PVGC in high school, starting in the golf shop. She remembers using color-coded paper tee sheets and which color represented each day of the week (if you know her, you’re not surprised by this). She later began working in the Food & Beverage Department, gaining experience in the bar and on the beverage cart. Becky continued to work at PVGC part-time through college. She also stayed involved in the MHS Girls Golf Program throughout college by volunteering as a coach. Becky eventually took over the MHS Girls Golf Program in 2013. Since then, the program has two state titles, two state runner-ups, as well as many former players who have gone on to play at the NCAA Division 1 college level. Upon taking a full-time management position for PVGC in 2015, she began running the Food & Beverage Department and coordinating non-golf events. Over the last few years she has gained experience in all golf course operations; teaching lessons and running women’s ‘Chip & Sip’ lesson programs, running golf outings, etc.. Becky recently has decided to pursue her passion in the golf industry further by enrolling in PGA schooling. She is now about half way done!
